Professional shooting experiences and competitive events for all skill levels
International Defensive Pistol Association sanctioned events focusing on practical defensive shooting scenarios.
-> Monthly competitions.
-> All skill levels welcome.
-> Official IDPA scoring.
-> Equipment divisions available.
The general mindset of an IDPA match, and its purpose:
IDPA is a shooting sport that uses practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated “real world” self-defence scenarios.
IDPA shooting events require use of practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defence. No “competition only” equipment is permitted in IDPA matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of the individual, not equipment or gamesmanship.
In order for shooters to be able to compete with their peers, IDPA competitors are divided into classifications within each division based upon their skill level. IDPA has a very quick and easy method of classifying shooters.
Ballito Defensive Sports Shooting range and academy is affiliated with IDPA and may award these classifications.
Only current IDPA members may shoot the classifier and official IDPA matches or be awarded a classification by the Club.
In order to become an IDPA member, one will be required to register on the IDPA website:
